Texas Lions District 2-E2 Texas Lions District 2-E2 Eyeglass Recycling Center Helping the World See, One Pair at a Time

Texas Lions District 2-E2 Eyeglass Recycling Center
The District 2-E2 Eyeglass Recycling Center (2E2ERC) is a certified Lions Clubs International Eyeglass Recycling Center (LERC) located in Fort Worth, Texas. Operated entirely by volunteers and supported by Lions Clubs throughout District 2-E2 and beyond, 2E2ERC collects, sorts, and prepares used eyeglasses to be distributed to individuals in need worldwide.

Our mission is simple but powerful: to restore vision and change lives through the gift of recycled eyeglasses.

Why It Matters

Over 1.1 billion people globally suffer from vision impairment simply because they lack access to corrective lenses. For many, even a basic eye exam and prescription glasses are out of reach. Through the efforts of 2E2ERC, donated eyeglasses find new life and provide clearer vision to those who need it most — often in under-resourced areas and during international mission trips.

How It Works

The process is simple but impactful:

  • Lions Clubs, businesses, and community members collect used eyeglasses
  • Eyeglasses are delivered to the 2E2ERC facility in Fort Worth
  • Volunteers clean, sort, read prescriptions, and package the glasses
  • Glasses are distributed through Lions’ mission projects or partner organizations

District 2-E2 Lions Involvement

District 2-E2 Lions are the driving force behind 2E2ERC. Here’s how clubs and members support this critical service project:

  • Place and monitor eyeglass collection boxes in their communities
  • Deliver collected glasses to the recycling center
  • Volunteer at the center during regular work sessions
  • Support the center through financial contributions or equipment donations
  • Promote the program through public awareness and service outreach

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are welcome! Regular work sessions are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM. No experience is necessary — just a willingness to serve. Group visits and special workdays can be arranged by request.

How You Can Help

Every Lion, club, and community member can make a difference:

  • Set up eyeglass collection stations at local schools, churches, or businesses
  • Deliver collected glasses to the center
  • Volunteer your time to help process donations
  • Make a donation to support equipment and supplies

Together, we are helping restore vision and independence — one pair of glasses at a time.
