Beds Around DFW

Building Beds, Building Hope

Over the past seven years, our Lions have helped deliver countless beds to children in need across our communities. Each bed delivered means a child no longer has to sleep on the floor, and that’s a gift of comfort, dignity, and hope.
If you are available to help with deliveries in the South Fort Worth area, we would love to have you join us. Your time and effort can make a lasting impact in the lives of children and families right here in our community.

Leader Dogs for the Blind – January 2026 Update

As we step into a new year of service, Leader Dogs for the Blind continues to empower individuals who are blind or visually impaired through life-changing programs, training, and leadership opportunities. Lions across District 2-E2 are encouraged to share these resources with their clubs and communities as we work together to support independence and mobility for all.

Teen Programs: Changing Lives Through Confidence and Community

Leader Dog is already preparing for its two free, week-long summer programs designed specifically for teenagers aged 16–17 who are blind:
Teen Summer Camp
This June, up to 24 teens from across North America will come together for a week of leadership development, fun, and friendship. Campers participate in activities such as rock climbing, bonfires, archery, and team challenges—many experiencing their very first opportunity to connect with other teens who are blind.
Teen Orientation & Mobility
Held across three summer sessions, this program pairs each teen with a certified orientation and mobility specialist for one-on-one instruction. Accompanied by a parent or guardian, teens learn essential skills like navigating new environments, handling route changes, and building the confidence needed for independent travel as young adults.
Applications for both programs are now open. Lions are encouraged to help spread the word so that families across Texas can take advantage of these incredible opportunities.

Lion Mike Honored with the Leader Dog President’s Award

This month, Leader Dog celebrated one of its own—Lion Mike Dengate, who was recognized by President & CEO Lion Melissa Weiss with the Leader Dog President’s Award.
After twelve years working in the philanthropy department, Lion Mike retired and returned as a volunteer, pouring his passion for service into client support, campus tours, and summer visitation programs. His dedication reflects the heart of what it means to be a Lion: empowering others to live safely, independently, and boldly.
As Lion Mike shared, “There is an undeniable passion to empower people who are blind or visually impaired to travel safely and independently. If you share this passion, I encourage you to volunteer, donate, or better yet, do both.”

A Fact & A Quote

Fact: In 2025, Leader Dog launched its Alumni Board—an initiative designed to strengthen community among Leader Dog graduates and ensure their voices remain central in shaping future programs.
Quote: Alumni Board Chair Juanita Lillie summed it up best:
“We are doing our work for the clients. If it wasn’t for the clients, Leader Dog wouldn’t be here. So being able to listen, collaborate and learn from each other—that’s the best part of being involved.”

Sherman Evening Lions Provide Holiday Support to Texoma Family Shelter

The Sherman Evening Lions Club continued its annual tradition of spreading holiday cheer by providing food and Christmas stockings to residents of the Texoma Family Shelter in Denison.
This year, twelve Lions volunteers came together to serve approximately 45 adults and children, ensuring each received a warm meal and a stocking filled with holiday treats.
For the past four years, the Sherman Evening Lions have partnered with the shelter to offer comfort, compassion, and practical support to families in need—an effort that reflects the Lions’ core global causes of Hunger Relief and Humanitarian Support.

“It is very important that we serve our community and bring happiness and joy to those less fortunate,” shared members of the Sherman Evening Lions Club. “The holiday season should be a time of warmth and hope, and we are honored to help provide that to families experiencing hardship.”

The Sherman Evening Lions continue to welcome new members who want to make a difference through hands-on service and meaningful community partnerships.

Keller Lions Club Shines at the Holly Days Parade

A few of our Keller Lions were out spreading holiday cheer at the Holly Days Parade in Keller, Texas, and what a night it was! Our float made its way through the crowds as families, friends, and neighbors lined the streets to celebrate the season together.
The community spirit was strong, and it was wonderful to see so many smiling faces enjoying the evening. Thank you to everyone who came out to support Keller and all who helped make the parade a success.
The Keller Lions Club is proud to be part of such an engaged and enthusiastic community—and we look forward to continuing to serve throughout the holiday season and beyond.
