Drug Awareness Council Youth Poster Contest

Empowering Youth Through Art: The DAC Poster Contest

The Drug Awareness Council (DAC) Youth Poster Contest invites young students to use their voices—through art—to stand up against drug misuse. Lions District 2-E2 proudly leads this initiative as part of its commitment to youth empowerment and drug prevention. The contest encourages students from Kindergarten through 8th grade to design posters that share powerful, drug-free messages. As one of the district’s signature youth outreach programs, the DAC Poster Contest unites creativity, education, and leadership to build healthier, stronger communities.

What the DAC Poster Contest Offers

The DAC Poster Contest provides students with a platform to express their concerns about substance abuse through the creation of original artwork. Their posters highlight the dangers of drugs, vaping, or alcohol and promote positive alternatives and wise choices. Each piece of art sparks meaningful conversations and showcases the student’s voice and values. The contest directly supports the Drug Awareness Council’s mission to educate young people and involve them in prevention-focused, peer-driven initiatives that inspire change.

Who Can Participate and How

Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade are eligible to participate in the contest. Lions Clubs and schools invite students to design posters that promote clear, age-appropriate messages about staying drug-free. Students may draw, write, or combine both to share their ideas. We encourage them to use original concepts that reflect their understanding of healthy living. While artistic skill plays a role, the strength and clarity of the message remain the top priority. Lions Clubs and educators integrate the contest into classrooms, youth groups, and after-school programs to reach as many young voices as possible.

Why the Contest Matters

Creative expression empowers students to reflect, communicate, and lead. Through this contest, young artists explore the dangers of substance abuse and champion healthy choices in their schools and communities. As they brainstorm, discuss, and turn ideas into visual messages, students gain confidence, build awareness, and learn to advocate for themselves and others. These posters do more than decorate hallways—they inspire peers and families to think critically, engage in meaningful conversations, and make informed choices. The contest helps shape a generation that embraces positive decisions and leads by example.

How Lions Clubs in District 2-E2 Lead the Way

Lions Clubs across District 2-E2 make this contest successful by connecting directly with schools, families, and community groups. Clubs take the lead by:

  • Supplying art materials and resources to participating classrooms
  • Promoting the contest in schools and youth organizations
  • Organizing local judging and recognition events
  • Submitting top posters to the district level for broader celebration

When your club supports this contest, you invest directly in youth development. You give students tools to stay informed, feel valued, and lead with purpose. This is one of the most accessible and impactful ways Lions can serve—and it starts with a simple invitation to participate.
